Trainings for Law Enforcement/ Wildlife Officials in

Wildlife Forensics

Short term training/ courses (3-5 days) are organized for the Officials of State Forensic Labs, Wildlife Departments, Police, Customs etc. in the fields of Wildlife Forensics to deal with Illegal Wildlife Trade by the Experts in the fields of Wildlife Forensics


Officials will be trained mainly in following techniques

  • Species, Sex & Individual identification from wildlife parts & products using DNA & Morphology forensic techniques.
  • Forensic DNA extraction from ancient bone/ tooth samples.
  • Crime scene investigation & sample collection.
  • Assignment of poaching cases to the respective population.
  • Finding Hot-spots of Poaching.
  • Age estimation of animals form tooth.

Wildlife Conservation

Short term training/ courses (3-5 days) are organized for the Officials of Wildlife Departments/ Teachers/ Students,  by the Experts in the fields of Wildlife Conservation


Officials will be trained in techniques to mainly study following topics

  • Ecology of the faunal diversity
  • Population Genetic Structure- Heterozygosity, Number of Alleles, Effective Number of alleles, Null alleles, Population bottleneck, Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium, Linkage   

             Disequilibrium, Population sub-division, Genetic differentiation.  

             Gene flow & other parameters

  • Population assignment and Relatedness
  • Isolation by Distance
  • Species & Sex Identification 
  • DNA-Barcoding of faunal diversity
  • Estimation of the minimum number of individuals
  • Analysis of genetic isolation/ Geographical barriers between populations
  • Corridor functionality status 
  • Selection of genetically fit individuals for selective breeding

  • Phylogenetic analysis
  • Phylogeographic analysis
  • Taxonomy analysis 
  • Dealing negative human-wildlife interactions
  • Identification of conflict animals in negative human-wildlife interactions
  • Helping Wildlife Authorities in proper dissemination of compensation funds to the victim/s in negative human-wildlife interactions
